I spent the summer 2024 semester studying in Ariccia, Italy, where I completed 12 credits across four courses studying italian language, culture, art, history, and lifestyle. This academic experience allowed me to earn a minor in International Human Sciences. During my time abroad, I gained valuable insights into global perspectives on human development, culture, and society, all while immersing myself in the rich history and environment of Italy. During weekends off, I was able to travel around Europe, further enhancing my global experience. This experience was truly transformative. Spending three months immersed in the diverse cultures of Italy not only broadened my worldview, but it also taught me invaluable lessons about myself and my ability to navigate unfamiliar situations. The exposure to new environments sharpened my adaptability and decision-making skills. I learned how to quickly adjust to new settings and manage the unknown, which significantly boosted my independence and confidence. Additionally, being constantly pushed outside of my comfort zone, especially in social settings, helped me develop a greater sense of self-assurance. I interacted with more people and cultures in those three months than I ever have in my life, which has left me feeling more connected to the world and better equipped to handle future challenges. This journey was an invaluable step in my personal and academic growth, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to explore Europe while furthering my education.
